Google tests Gemini business calls for Pixel 11 users

Google has announced Call for Me, an experimental feature that lets Gemini place calls to businesses from a Pixel 11. The assistant can introduce itself, navigate automated menus, wait on hold, and converse with staff to check stock, make reservations, reschedule appointments, or ask for items to be held.

Google says calls use the user’s own number, while the user can follow a live transcript and take over at any point. The test is available in the U.S., in English, to Gemini subscribers enrolled in the public beta of the Google Phone app. Google says it is starting at a small scale because real-world conversations are complex and it wants to improve the system across accents and noisy settings; emergency services are among the places Gemini is not meant to call.
